We have a residential boarding program that houses up to 35 girls. We offer skilling opportunities for girls and young women who are unable to complete their education for various reasons. During their time at the Skills Center, participants can either choose a tailoring or hairdressing track. They have the opportunity to market their skills to the community in order to gain an income. By the time they have completed the curriculum with Marianne Foundation, each woman is either connected to existing markets for their skills or they are empowered to open up their own businesses.
In addition to the tailoring and hairdressing tracks, all girls are periodically skilled in making additional crafts, EmpowerPads reusable pads, paper bags, notebooks and liquid soap. The girls are supported by our staff with food, shelter, safety, necessities for daily living and a community of other girls in a similar situation.
Our Marianne Foundation Business Outlet, located in Ibanda Town, will serve as an outlet for all of the products made by women at the Marianne Foundation Women's Skilling Center.
